Fortnite Android APK: How to download the game on your smartphone

Fortnite on Android is no longer available on the Google Play Store. It is therefore necessary to download and install an APK available on the Epic Games website to enjoy the game on smartphones and tablets. We explain how to download and install Fortnite on your Android smartphone.

How to install Fortnite outside of the Play Store and the App Store

To install Fortnite on Android:

From your Android smartphone, go to fortnite.com

  • Tap get in the Epic Games app
  • Validate the installation
  • Enter the Fortnite launcher you just installed
  • Download Fortnite from the launcher and install it
  • It’s done, you are ready to play!

To install Fortnite on iOS (only possible if you have installed the game in the past):

  • Open the App Store on your iPhone
  • Tap your avatar at the top right
  • Go to Purchases
  • Search for Fortnite: if you had downloaded it you will be able to do it again

Unfortunately, if, on the other hand, you have never downloaded the game, you will not be able to install it on your iPhone.

Fortnite: compatible Android smartphones

Not all Android smartphones are compatible with Fortnite. They must indeed have enough power to run the game. The Google Pixel, Honor 10, HTC 10, Huawei Mate 10, LG G7 ThinQ, Moto Z, Nokia 8, OnePlus 6, Razer Phone, the latest Samsung Galaxy, Sony Xperia, and ZTE are all expected to run the game. The minimum system requirements are as follows:

Android 5.0 Lollipop or later

3 GB RAM

GPU Adreno 530 / Mali-G71MP20 / Mali-G72MP12

Why Fortnite is no longer available on the Play Store and the App Store

The conflict between Epic Games and the App Store and Play Store app stores dates back several years. The two ecosystems in fact charge 30% commission on everything highlighted by their platform. (Which includes in-app purchases).

This does not appeal at all to the publisher who seeks to circumvent this obligation. On Android, the publisher has always offered an alternative to download the game directly from its site. On iOS, Fortnite was available on the App Store since 2018. But in the last few hours, the Google Play Store and the App Store have removed the app from their platform.

Epic Games has implemented an integrated payment solution that violates the terms of these two stores. As a result, Apple and Google have decided to ban the game, which somewhat complicates its installation on Android, and drastically limits its progress on iPhone.
