Pokémon Go Fest 2020 has another form this year. Due the pandemic, Niantic has chosen to change its annual Pokémon GO Fest into a “virtual event” to meet the expectations of its large community of trainers. The event takes place July 25/26 online. The program of the event features hunting for new Pokémon as well as more interactions despite the distance.
In fact, Niantic thought mainly about its community of millions of players. Although it wasn’t expected, The Pokémon GO Fest event will take place this year. However, it is will be played online, through the in-“game app” and “Pokémon online services”. This year, there will be no meeting in Chicago or elsewhere for trainers from all over the world. Instead, there will be two days of challenges and other missions to take up on July 25 and 26 around the world (from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
Pokémon Go Fest 2020: 75 new POKÉMON to hunt
There will be an edition of Pokémon GO Fest that comes with new mobile gaming features. As usual, the event starts with a gallery of new Pokémon to discover. In fact, the company added 75 creatures to catch, including a good number of new Pokémon that will be visible after the event. During two days of raids in the wild, players will take on various challenges during the Special Study. (sort of story mode to access particular Pokémon or even Legendaries). In order to create a better gaming experience, Niantic introduces a new gameplay experience with a rotation of the five virtual habitats that change every hour. It features different themes: fire, water, plants, fights, friendship. During the first day of GO Fest, trainers will be able to work together in the Global Challenge Arena, only accessible to event ticket holders. Niantic still retains some mystery around the second day of the festivities.
Despite the online aspect of the event, Pokémon GO tried to enhance the possibilities of interactions during GO Fest and after. In order to achieve this, a Beta feature will be launched. This feature will let you know if your friends are online. The Virtual Team Lounge will also be created to allow trainers to come together and engage in common challenges. Players can similarly interact with other trainers from all over the world. They can even chat with mobile game developers and get information on the various events.
