Nubia has just lifted the veil on its Red Magic 5G, a particularly interesting gaming smartphone with its 144 Hz AMOLED screen, its Snapdragon 865 and its in-house cooling system.
Nubia surpasses itself year after year to surpass the limits of technology. The latest example: its Red Magic 5G, a smartphone recently unveiled in China, which outperforms its competitors on a number of characteristics. The subsidiary of the Chinese firm ZTE has just presented a smartphone that is particularly interesting on paper, especially since it starts at only 4,799 yuan in China, or around 485 dollars
. Red Magic 5G: the mighty gaming phone
Where the Nubia Red Magic 5G amazes is first of all thanks to its 6.65-inch (Full HD +) AMOLED screen, and its record 144 Hz refresh rate! While some smartphones offer panels that rise even higher – like the Sharp Aquos Zero2 and its 240 Hz panel – the fact remains that 144 Hz are more generally confined to the world of gaming monitors than smartphones. On this point, it therefore exceeds the 120 Hz of the Samsung Galaxy S20. However, tactile refreshing remains confined to 240 Hz, just like on the latest Samsung flagships. On the design side, it will also be necessary to make some compromises, since Nubia has chosen to incorporate thin borders. It is therefore in an upper border that we will find the front camera, instead of a punch or a notch.
But if Nubia has opted for a screen refreshed at the record speed of 144 Hz and thin borders, it is especially for mobile gaming. The smartphone, particularly suitable for this use, is indeed equipped with physical keys placed on the edges for the players. Nubia even pushed the vice by incorporating a 4D vibration system. On the power side, the smartphone should also be capable of the best, since it includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip coupled with 8, 12, or even 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. In order to never lose performance, the Nubia Red Magic 5G is also equipped with an in-house liquid cooling system composed of graphene and aluminum. Everything will be powered by a 4,500 mAh battery capable of being recharged at the speed of 55W wired. The brand promises to recover nearly 56% of battery life in just a quarter of an hour of charging via its USB-C port. There is also a jack.
Even if this is not its field of predilection, the Red Magic 5G should nevertheless prove to be rather capable in photography with its triple rear sensor consisting of a main module of 64 MP (Sony IMX686), an ultra wide-angle 8 MP and finally a 2 MP macro sensor. Nubia’s Red Magic 5G is expected to hit Europe next month. In China, it will be available from March 19 at a price of 3,799 yuan (usd 485) in 8/128 GB, and 4,999 yuan (usd 640) in 16/256 GB.
